No-Cost Training For Local And Tribal Agencies

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) finalized an agreement for a project that provides local transportation practitioners access to the AASHTO TC3 (Transportation Curriculum Coordination Council) library. Access to the training advances the mission of FHWA’s Center for Local Aid Support (CLAS) of providing training and technical assistance to local government transportation practitioners through Local Technical Assistance Programs (LTAP Centers).

Local practitioners everywhere will have access to 120 training modules in construction, maintenance and materials – online, anytime. Courses provided by TC3 are developed through a collaboration of national best practices and a network of knowledgeable subject matter experts.

What is TC3?

TC3 is AASHTO's library of 190 training modules. The courses are divided into the following categories: Materials; Construction; Maintenance; Traffic and Safety; Pavement Preservation; and Employee Development. Courses are developed through a collaboration of national best practices and a network of subject matter experts, ensuring the curriculum meets the challenges of today and tomorrow. All courses are available on the TC3 website and also a mobile app, available on iOS and Android systems.

Each category is divided into four skill levels that define a career progression, from entry level (Level I) through management and administrative (Level IV). Users can take courses that match their field and skill level.

Access to courses is available to local agency and tribal staff only.

To browse and access TC3 course offerings, visit AASHTO’s TC3 Website.  You will need an AASHTO account to access the courses. Create an AASHTO account login at https://register.transportation.org

Select Register at https://register.transportation.org and create an AASHTO. You must then enter your agency email address.

Professional Development Hours

Many practitioners need courses with professional development hours (PDHs) to earn credits for maintaining their licenses and certificates. More than 90 percent of TC3 courses qualify for PDHs.
